Q: Do you still take family portraits?
A: Of course! It has always been my dream to be a children’s photographer. I have finally reached a point where children alone keep me busy, and all my appointments booked up. However children are a part of families, and I want to capture that connection as well. What has changed now that I am officially a “Children’s Photographer”, is that I no longer take images with the focus during the shoot on the family. My focus during your session will be the children, and while I am focusing on the children, I would be happy to snap a few of the family together as well!![]()
Q: What does my session fee include?
A: The session fee pays for my time and talent during the session, post production editing and a private online, 1 week viewing gallery. The viewing gallery will display your best images about 2 weeks after your session and will remain online for 1 week.
Q: Where is your studio?
A: In order to spend more time with my family, I work out of my home studio.
Q: How long after I order will my final images be ready for pick-up?
A: After you order your favorite images they will be ready for pick up in about 6 weeks. I look at your images as an heirloom that I do not want to rush. Quality takes time!
Q: How far in advance should we book our session?
A: I am generally booked 6-8 weeks in advance. To check for available dates please look in the “Calendar” section of my website.
Q: Can I be put on a waiting list in case of an opening sooner?
A: Yes, if you would like to be informed if a cancellation arises please email me the following information…
1. Date or dates you would like to have a session on.
2. Who the portrait is of.
3. Studio or on location session.
Q: Where should our session take place?
A: That depends on you and of course our Canadian weather. Which do you prefer the look of, studio, on location in your own home or outdoor pictures? All are beautiful.
Q: When should I photograph my baby?
A: For newborns please refer to my Newborn website. Older babies are best to photograph at around 6 months when they are able to sit by themselves. The best results will usually occur around that age.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Babies look best in little or no clothing. Clothing tends to make them look uncomfortable, awkward, and too grownup. They have the rest of their lives to be big! Right now is about how little they are. I generally prefer to photograph little babies with their parents holding them, it shows how small they are, and also comforts the baby to have someone familiar holding them. The parent doing the holding should wear a long sleeved black shirt and pants.
For older child images, I suggest that you bring several different outfits. The more the merrier, we can sort through them together and decide what will work best. For individual children fun, bright funky clothing and accessories are really great! Bring your child’s favorite blanket or stuffed animal, I love fun hats and skirts! Bring what you have, it’s ok to change clothes! I love it when people bring me a small suitcase full of things to choose from.
