Just a quick update to let you know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I merely am completely swamped and overwhelmed! I am so many sessions behind for blogging that I may NEVER catch up! :0) If you are waiting to see your images I will contact you soon, would you rather see a sneak peek or the full session???? That’s what I thought. :0)

By the way, If you are wanting images in the fall you should look and see how many sessions I have left in September, I’m not joking, that’s how many spots I have left (2), you should book… seriously, spots are almost gone. I will be having a mini session day in September for those of you who are just looking for some Christmas Cards. I will announce the day as soon as I figure out my schedule. Thanks so much for being the best bunch of customers a photographer could ever have!

Did you know that it is almost the anniversary of my 6th year in business?? CRAZY! It has gone so fast, too fast really, because those 6 years also represent 6 years of my children’s lives, and THAT time has gone far too quickly. I love those little guys. I was just making an album of pictures that I had taken of my family and myself 2 years ago. ( I know 2 years ago and I haven’t done it yet?!) And it got me thinking about how glad I am that we went to a professional photographer when we were on vacation and had pictures taken that include ME with my children for once. Everyone has changed so much since then and it is almost time to do it again. I love to see my children grow, but I hate how big they are getting… KWIM? I always think that I will never forget something cute they said or did, but I have forgotten. For example, I remember one of my children always called a bum crack a “cracker”. but which one was it??? I can’t remember, I should have written it down.

No matter what size your children are, they will never be this small again, professional photography is an expense that you will never regret. You will only regret NOT doing it.

I haven’t fallen from the face of the planet, I am just enjoying the month of December, and taking time to prepare for Christmas with my family. I hope that all of you are having a wonderful December too. I know it is cold and snowing, I hate the snow too, but I am trying to think positively about it. I didn’t see snow until I was 8 years old, and my mom let me stay home form school that day. There was barely a dusting of snow on the ground, but I made a little tiny snow man that was more mud than snow. Anyways, I was in heaven. I could never have imagined then that I would spend so much of my life in a place with so much snow. So- that is my bright side, when I was that eight year old little girl, I would have loved all this snow. There is something magical and pure about freshly fallen snow, and since we have no choice but to endure it, we might as well try to be happy while freezing! :0) Merry Christmas everyone, I will start posting more sneak peeks of my wonderful clients images in January – see you then! :0)

Looking for babies!!!

I have a workshop coming up on Septmeber 10-11. Several professional photographers from all over north america are coming to study with me, and learn some of my phtoography techniques. I am really looking forward to it, and I know it will be so fun! I put out a model call a while ago, and quickly had all the spots full of people willing to let us use their children as models for the workshop. I am so grateful to all those who were willing to participate!

Now- I have a bit of a problem- I accepted 4 expecting mothers newborns as models for the workshop- but all but 1 have been born already! I do need the models to be less than 10 days olds as of September 10 or 11. So- if you are expecting and are a bit over due- or due this week- please call me or email me at secretan@shaw.ca and let me know that you would love to have your new baby be a model for my workshop. In return you will receive 10 fully edited digital files to print however many copies you would like and use to give as gifts to all your favorite family and friends- or even the postman if you want! :0)

Workshop Opening

I have had an unexpected opening to my workshop in September due to a family emergency. If you would like to take this last spot let me know!

Here are the details…

Workshop: September 10-11, 2010.

The location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, in Canada (that is right by Edmonton). Because I work in a small space (and REALLY hate when I can’t move at a workshop), I will only be able to take 6 people. The cost will be $1300 CDN.

What will be covered:

Working with studio lights. I am a studio light photographer- I know sometimes it is hard to tell- but if the subject is obviously indoors- then they were shot with studio lights.

Shooting outdoors. I do actually work outside too- but only for a few months a year! :0)- please view my children’s website to view examples of outdoor photography.

My post processing techniques.

Working with Maternity, newborns, and children. We will work on posing models and working with them.

How do I get all my maternity clients to look like models, how to pose those tricky newborns, and how to get fun images of little people.

A few of my business basics- but mainly this is a lighting and posing workshop.

It should be creative, fun, and most of all educational!

You must live at least 6 hours from Fort Saskatchewan to participate.

I am looking for some models for my upcoming workshop. This will be a workshop exclusively for professional photographers. M0dels will need to sign a release allowing the photographers to use the images that are taken at the workshop in their portfolios.

I am looking for the following ages…

Newborn- less than 10 days old as of September 10-11- if you are due the last week of August or First week of September- this is for you! :0)

Maternity- between 26-30 weeks pregnant as of September 10-11.

Children- 7-9 months, and 3-6 years old.

All models will receive at least 10 digital files on a disc- a value of $1050- for free! If you are interested- please email me at secretan@shaw.ca

This little girl was soooo sweet, and incredibly bendy! :0) She pretty much just slept and slept- I love that- we can do so many fun things when they are sleepy! :0) This sneak peek is a bit over due- I am so busy right now- everyone seems to have had their babies all at once. This little guy is about 4 months old- he was so good during his session. He really just looked and looked at me- not a lot of smiles, but I loved all the eyes contact. Isn’t his hair so cute? Happy Easter!!!

Just remember as you steal the candy from your children’s easter baskets ( don’t pretend you haven’t already been in there!) there is no need to feel guilty!

Chocolate is a vegetable: Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans.
Beans = vegetable.

Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.

To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.

Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

If you’ve got melted chocolate all over your hands, you’re eating it too slowly.

The problem: how to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: eat it in the parking lot.

Diet tip: eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It’ll take the edge off your appetite, and you’ll eat less.

If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don’t they actually counteract each other?

Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.

Put “eat chocolate” at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.

A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Now, isn’t that handy?

If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated. You can’t let that happen, can you?

May marks the 5 year anniversary of starting my photography business. It is like most things- I can’t believe it’s been 5 years already, and at the same time- I can’t believe it’s been only 5 years! :0)
